What is SwiftLadies? How did I get here?

SwiftLadies is a global community of Lady Apple Developers. It began in Manila and hopefully, it will spread around the world.

Swift PH is a community of iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS developers in the Philippines. It started in July 2017 in Manila.

Without further ado, how did I get here? I joined the Swift PH (Manila, Philippines) Meetup group around September last year (2017). But I haven't attend any meetups since then due to my busy schedule. I just participated this January of 2018.

What motivated me to join this group is my desire to socialize with my co-developers, who love programming as much as I do. Also, I want to contribute something to the community. Let me quote something:

Learning is a never ending process. I want to be part of the community to learn and to share something even though I'm already a working professional. :)

From SwiftLadies Facebook page

I'm very happy that I became part of the 1st SwiftLadies meetup. It was my first time to speak in a public tech meet-up composed of around 30 people. I did learn from them and I do hope that they learned also from me.

Thank you so much! :)

How about you? Are you interested? Join the future meetups and see you there!

ESGS (E-Sport and Gaming Summit) is a yearly event and also one of the biggest gaming events in South-east Asia.

For this year's event (2017), it happened last October 27-29 at SMX Convention Center (Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines). The tickets were available on-site as well as online through SMTickets.com. The ticket prices differ on the first day and the last 2 days: October 27 (Php 170), October 28 (Php 210) and October 29 (Php 210).

Here's the program for this year's event:

I wasn't able to go on the first two days but I was glad that I went to the last day of the event. It was actually my first time to attend such event because I'm not a game enthusiast. 😅   My boyfriend invited me to go because they have a designated booth.

Here's the floorplan of the event:

This is me! Excited to see what's inside...

Are you ready? Here's the glimpse of the event:

GDG DevFest is an annual community-organized event that showcases the Google technologies and other developer products.

Photo from GDG Philippines

It was the biggest Google tech conference in the Philippines. For this year, they talked about new technologies such as Android Nougat, Firebase, Progressive Web Apps, Google Cloud, Polymer and many more.

I was very lucky to experience this one-of-a-kind event in the Philippines and it's free! :)

I was able also to tag along my sister for this event. She was able to see and experience what it's like be on my field.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand chose Mario Maurer as their new celebrity ambassador to promote Thailand, to be the next-to-go destination. Part of their campaign was to visit the neighbouring countries including ours, Philippines to encourage more tourists to visit the Land of Smiles.

One of the lucky winners to meet Mario in person. Hope to visit Thailand soon with my baby sister. 👯 #mariomaurerinmanila #tatphilippines #ExperienceThailandWithMario

I just can’t contain my happiness when I saw on the computer’s screen that I was one of the winners of Meet-and-Greet with Mario Maurer! Here’s the screenshot of my winning entry…

I think #24 is my lucky number because I was born on the 24th day of August. :)

How about you? Do you also want to experience Thailand with Mario Maurer? Share your thoughts.

IT Show 2014 is a yearly event that showcases Singapore's LARGEST consumer electronics exhibition. It occupies Suntec City Convention Centre.

I was very happy to witness the said event. Unfortunately, I didn't purchase any of the products there. But it was a great experience to see high-end gadgets on sale. 😁

Promotion poster for Super Show 5

I have been a fan of Super Junior since I was in fourth year high school (year 2007). I even registered for an online fan group: ELF Philippines (although I'm not active anymore and I have no news about them).

Super Show 5 was their fifth international tour. Their first world tour in the Philippines was Super Show 2, which was held in Araneta Coliseum last 2010. They also went back to the Big Dome last 2011 for Super Show 3. I wasn't able to go there because I was a minor and my parents surely won't allow me to go there. 😔

Good thing I was able to go at Super Show 5 last October 24, 2013 at Mall of Asia Arena. The concert lasted for about 3 hours. They performed the massive hit, "Sorry, Sorry".

I'm pleased until now that I already ticked off one of my bucket list. :)

How about you? Are you a fan of them? Have you experienced watching Super Junior on stage? Share your thoughts.

This was one of the reasons why I shift from Java developer to Mobile App Developer.

Developers Connect Summit 2013: #MobileDevNBeyond was a whole day conference that aims to bring together over 800 Information Technology professionals, students and educators from all over the Philippines to showcase the latest trends and opportunities in the Information Technology industry. That year's theme was "Mobile Development and Beyond". - DevCon

I had a chance to have a selfie with the resource speakers:

Note: I actually won a raffle promo that's why I had a chance to attend the event. :)

How about you? Have you previously attended the event? Share your experience.
