I am Ulyssa Elaine - Travel, Food and Lifestyle Blogger

Malaysia is a multi-cultural country and one of the wealthiest country in Southeast Asia. It consists of thirteen states and three federal territories separated by the South China Sea.

Kuala Lumpur is the Malaysia's capital and its largest city. It serves as the country's economic and business hub.

We've been to Malaysia a couple of times already and it's in Johor Bahru, another Malaysia's southern gem. Thus, this was our first time to visit Kuala Lumpur. This trip was made possible because we celebrated my mom's birthday.

» How To Get There? «

The best way to get to Kuala Lumpur is a direct flight from local or international carriers. We chose Cebu Pacific Air from Manila, Philippines. Travel time from Manila (NAIA Terminal 3) to Kuala Lumpur (Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2) is 4 hours.

» Travel Requirements «

Here are the requirements (as of September 2, 2022) that we prepared prior to our trip:

  • Passport
  • Roundtrip Air Tickets
  • Confirmed Hotel Booking
  • Travel Insurance (not required but we purchased for our safety)
  • Philippine's VaxCert or BOQ Yellow Card (2 doses with booster)

» How Long To Stay? «

Technically, we stayed here for 2 days. I suggest to stay here for 3 to 4 days to experience the mix of modernity and Malaysian tradition.

    » Where To Stay? «

We stayed in Bukit Bintang, which is the most popular and central area in Kuala Lumpur. You can also choose the KLCC, where the Petronas Tower and KL Tower is located.

» Where To Exchange Currency? «

We found a money changer inside the Pavilion Mall (Bukit Bintang) with a great exchange rate, Merchantrade. You can check the branch location and exchange rates online thru this link.

    » Things To Do «

Here are the things that we did on our short trip to Kuala Lumpur:

    • Shop and dine at Pavilion Mall
    • Stroll around KLCC Park

    • Visit Petronas Tower

    • Visit Batu Caves

    • Ride and enjoy KL Hop-on Hop-off Bus
    • Visit Istana Negara (National Palace)

It's my 30th birthday that we decided to try this new restaurant in Tagaytay. It's located in a secluded part of Tagaytay without the view of Taal Volcano. Perfectly, they are pet-friendly restaurant, which we like because we bought along with us our pet, a shih tzu dog.

    » Farmer's Table Tagaytay «

Farmer's Table is an al-fresco restaurant located inside Nurture Wellness Village and Spa in Tagaytay City. They also have a bakery and offers fresh from farm to table cuisine. They also offers delivery thru Foodpanda.

You may view their menu online through this link: https://www.raintreehospitality.net/farmerstablemenu. To reserve a table or for takeout/delivery, you can contact their Viber number +63-917-873-5943.

    » The Experience «

We are a family of 14. Unfortunately, they were fully booked for online reservation so we just opt for walk-in. We arrived at around 1:00 pm for our lunch. The waiting time until we seated at the restaurant took at least 30 mins. For our food orders, it took around another 30 mins. It is best to book for a reservation beforehand (maybe 2-3 days before).

We ordered 2 orders of Tofu Sisig (Php 350), 1 order of Just Vegetable Kare-kare (Php 495), 2 orders of Pork BBQ Skewers on a Grill (Php 475), 2 orders of California-Style Roasted Rosemary Lemon Garlic Chicken (Php 695), 2 orders of Garden Fresh Vegetable Pad Thai (Php 475), 1 order of Chili Garlic Pork Knuckle "Crispy Pata" (Php 995) and Beer-Battered Fish & Chips (Php 575).

The price range for the food was pretty expensive but it's worth it. On my personal opinion, you get what you paid for. The taste of every dishes that we ordered was superb!

As newly weds, I believe that romance shouldn't stop. I mean, go pack your bags and keep having adventures. So we had our first Valentine's trip as a married couple at Okada Manila.

    » Okada Manila «

Okada Manila, opened in December 2016, is a 5-star casino resort and hotel complex in the Philippines. It is a massive complex spanning of 44 hectares located in the Entertainment City in Parañaque City, Metro Manila.

    » Booking Procedure «

You can book through its website okadamanila.com or through other reliable third-party booking sites such as Booking.com or Agoda.com.

I booked the latter one for a better hotel deal with free cancellation. Why? I was afraid that the alert levels (recommended by IATF) will change again in the Philippines so it's better to be prepared.

    » Rooms «

The hotel has 993 rooms to choose from, with views of either Manila Bay or The Fountain. We stayed in the Deluxe Room (king bed).

Here are the list of the room types:

    • Deluxe Room - 60 m² / king size bed or two double beds
    • Grand Deluxe Room - 75-95 m² / king size bed

    » Overall «

Upon parking in the basement, we headed to the Coral Wing and checked in at their glamorous lobby at around 2:30 pm. Yes, we were so early and we didn't fall in line that long considering that we were booked in a peak season. I salute them for the fast transaction. It was a five-star hotel resort indeed! Just take note that there's a Php 5000 refundable (upon checkout) deposit (in cash) at the lobby.

Upon entering the room, we were welcomed with a nice, calming music. One of my favorites' is the DigiValet Service, a fully-automated iPad device that controls the lights, sounds, air-condition, curtains, act as a remote for the television as well can be used for hospitality requests. Our assigned room was on the 9th floor, facing the pool and the Manila Bay. Everything looks luxurious to us and the money was well spent.

This post is long overdue. It was in March 2021 when we dined in at Angelfields Nature Sanctuary's Cucina Bernardo.

    » Angelfields Nature Sanctuary «

Angelfields Nature Sanctuary, opened in 2012, is a luxurious event place located along Tagaytay - Sta Road. It is few kilometers away from Tagaytay town proper. They also have a restaurant named Cucina Bernardo.

    » The Experience «

We had our dinner at their restaurant and it was actually located at the lush gardens of Holy Family Garden. We just decided to have a dinner there (to have a food tasting) because it will be the venue of our December wedding. Wanna look at our wedding? Here's the link.

The food was nice during our first visit. My favorite is Braised Beef Belly. It was superb! I took note of this and it was served during our wedding reception.

We ordered Grilled Norwegian Salmon (P755), Braised Beef Belly (Php 615), Crispy Smoked Bangus (Php 450), Mini Pork BBQ (Php 250), Pumpkin Soup (Php 180), Mushroom Soup, Rice (for sharing) (Php 130) and Vanilla Milkshake (Php 230 each).

This post is long overdue. It was in May 2021 when we dined in at Farm Hills Garden to celebrate the wedding anniversary of my parents.

    » Farm Hills Garden «

Farm Hills Garden, opened in 2019, is an event place, a bed and breakfast as well as a cafe and restaurant. It is situated in Brgy. Ulat, Silang, Cavite. It is a few kilometers away from Tagaytay town proper.

    » The Experience «

We had our lunch at the restaurant. Unfortunately, it took a while before we had our table because of the long queue. It's better to have a reservation beforehand.

We ordered Four-cheese Pizza (Php 390), Aglio Olio (Php 350), Chicken Teriyaki (Php 350), and Sinigang na Bangus Belly (Php 420). We also ordered ripe mango shake (Php 140) and two orders of vanilla milkshare (Php 160 each) ***not included on the photos.

Tip: I recommend to take a private vehicle instead of commute because the place is few meters away from the highway or the main road.
